This course is fully funded by the Department for the Economy, under the Skill Up Programme. This course is a part of a suite of free online accredited courses that the College is offering to upskill, retrain and gain a qualification with no costs associated.

To equip those employed in health and social care with the skills to enhance their practice in leadership and management both within teams and of teams.

The programme is taught by industry experts who have vocational and management experience. The course is supported by NISCC and RQIA.

This course will be delivered online with planned face to face, as directed in week 1

All assessments are internal. You will produce short assignments, use case studies, and reflect on your practice to meet criteria.

This course is aimed at practitioners employed in health and social care who aspire to enhance their leadership and management skills. There are 10 modules of study which include:

  • Governance and Regulation
  • Safeguarding and Protection
  • Person centred Outcome: Best Practice Performance Management

You will have the opportunity to progress to Level 5 Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care which are the minimum standards required by RQIA to manage a Health and Social care setting

Please ensure a Level 2 standard of Literacy - this course is heavy on written assignments.  Experience in a leadership type role is essential, preferably in adult social care, team leader, senior role or years experience with responsibilities like mentoring.

  • You must be at least 18 years of age.
  • You must be a resident of Northern Ireland and eligible to work in the UK.
  • You will be required to have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills to enable them to successfully complete the qualification.
