Northern Regional College is a leading provider of further and higher education in Northern Ireland, serving over 560,000 people across four council areas. With campuses in Ballymena, Magherafelt, Newtownabbey and Coleraine, the College supports around 8,000 students in further education, higher education, and apprenticeships. Coleraine Campus

The new Causeway Campus in Coleraine opened its doors to students in September 2024 for the 2024/25 academic year, offering a dynamic and inclusive space for learning, creativity and community engagement. Spanning 12,600 m² on an extended site at Union Street, the campus combines cutting-edge facilities with green, welcoming an open-air ‘garden room’, extending the park space into the building, and the beautifully restored St Patrick’s Centre, now a dedicated hub for music and performing arts.

Conveniently located just a 6 minute walk from the local Translink bus and rail station, the campus is easily accessible by public transport. The town centre is just a 5 minute walk via the Anderson Park entrance, placing you right at the heart of Coleraine.shaping future professionals in Coleraine and beyond.

The Union Street entrance features a drop-off zone, two accessible spaces and dedicated cycle parking and there is a free car park with over 200 spaces, EV charging points and accessible bays located on Brook Street.

St Patrick’s Centre, accessible from Brook Street and Circular Road, features a performance hall, recording studio, music rooms and more. The main campus boasts modern classrooms, industry-standard workshops and labs, a TV studio, sports hall, fitness suite, Hair & Beauty Salons, a training restaurant and a large innovation zone designed for flexible learning and collaboration.

The £46 million Causeway campus, funded by the Department for the Economy (DfE) supports academic excellence and practical, hands-on training, shaping future professionals in Coleraine and beyond.



Ballymena Campus

The new £55 million Ballymena campus officially opened its doors to students in September for the 2025/26 academic year. Fully funded by the Department for the Economy (DfE), this state-of-the-art facility brings together all of the College’s Ballymena-based courses previously delivered at Trostan Avenue, Farm Lodge and the Lamont Building into one central, purpose-built location.
Situated on the expanded site of the former Farm Lodge campus, just off St Patrick’s Link Road, the impressive 16,800m² building reaches up to five storeys. From its upper levels, you can enjoy sweeping views eastward over the ECOS landscape toward Slemish, and westward, where it connects with the St. Patrick’s regeneration area.

The campus is conveniently located within walking distance of both the bus and train stations on Galgorm Road, as well as Ballymena town centre. At present, temporary free car parking is available at Ballymena Showgrounds, directly across from the campus. Additional on-site accessible and overflow parking is also in place. A new permanent free car park offering over 450 spaces, including EV charging points, accessible parking, and cycle bays is set to open in January 2026.

The campus features two buildings, the main campus and the adjacent Sports Zone. The main campus houses a cutting-edge Advanced Technologies Department, covering around 5,000m² across the ground and first floors. It offers specialist training in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, and Electronic Engineering, as well as Motor Vehicle and Construction Engineering. We also deliver qualifications in key trade areas such as Electrical Installation, Plumbing, Carpentry, Joinery, and Bricklaying.

The campus also boasts a training restaurant and fully equipped hair and beauty salons, providing you with hands-on, real-world learning opportunities.
Designed with collaboration in mind, the building features an open-plan learning staircase and a dedicated Innovation Zone, flexible spaces for cross-curriculum events and project-based learning.

Newtownabbey Campus

Located on the scenic Shore Road on the beautiful coastline of the Greater Belfast area, the Newtownabbey campus provides a vibrant and modern learning environment. Just a short journey from Belfast city centre and conveniently close to Glengormley, Ballyclare and Carrickfergus. There are regular buses along the Shore Road and Whiteabbey Train Station is just a short walk from the campus, making commuting simple and accessible. Onsite, you will find a spacious free car park with over 400 spaces, including designated accessible parking and cycle bays as well as charging points. The campus is equipped with modern industry-standard workshops across key vocational areas such as plumbing, carpentry & joinery, electrical installation and motor vehicle, providing you valuable hands-on experience in real-world environments. We have science laboratories and purpose-built animal care facilities to support you in growing sectors such as health, science, and veterinary care.

Entrepreneurial minds will find inspiration in our dedicated Entrepreneurship space, which supports innovation, start-up ventures, and enterprise development. Creative students can also make full use of our specialised MAC labs for media production.
