This course is fully funded by the Department for the Economy, under the Skill Up Programme. This course is a part of a suite of free online accredited courses that the College is offering to upskill, retrain and gain a qualification with no costs associated.

The course would be suitable for anyone who works with or alongside autistic adults.

Each week there will be a combination of lectures; discussion forums; independent research; portfolio building and e-assessment.

To achieve the Level 3 Award in Supporting Adults with Autism, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of learning outcomes and assessment criteria. This qualification is internally assessed, there are no examinations.

1 in 22 children in Northern Ireland have a diagnosis of autism. But what about those adults who have long since received their diagnosis, or perhaps did not receive a diagnosis?

This qualification has been designed to offer knowledge and understanding in a range of aspects of autism that can be applied in supporting and working alongside adults with autism. Learners will gain insights into how autism can affect communication, behaviour, social interaction and periods of transition and will empower the learner to develop strategies and approaches to support adults with autism through various aspects of life and work.

This qualification may be beneficial for someone hoping to progress to a Level 4 in a related area or to add to their CV to enhance employment or career progression.

  • You must be at least 18 years of age.
  • You must be a resident of Northern Ireland and eligible to work in the UK.
  • You will be required to have sufficient literacy and numeracy skills to enable them to successfully complete the qualification.
